bluegrassmusic_2We will be cooking up the dogs, bratwurst, burgers and more. Come enjoy live banjo, fiddles and dancing under the stars poolside at The Scarborough Affair residence in Rehoboth Beach with Whaley’s Corner Bluegrass Band. The weather forecast looks great – sunny and 78.

This special event will leave you with great memories whether you enjoy the music from the open living areas, grand screened porch, expansive decks overlooking the in-ground pool or the enchanting poolside gardens.

Tickets are $35 per person, which includes live music, beer, wine and BBQ.
Special placards will be displayed at the event for donors at the $100 and $250 levels for Friends of Dewey Beach and $500 as Dewey Beach Watchdogs.

RSVPs are most appreciated so that we can gauge a headcount for food and beverages. Walk in are always welcome though. And if you have time to volunteer to help on Friday or Saturday before the event, let us know. Contact us at info@preservedeweybeach.com

Scarborough Affair Directions: From Dewey Rt 1 North – just as you pass Gold’s Gym on the right in the “forgotten mile” make a right on Scarborough Avenue to house number 1025 (the first house on left behind the new townhouses). If you go over the canal bridge you have gone too far. You will not need a parking pass for residential street parking in Rehoboth after 5pm so you are fine driving and there is parking on our street, we would suggest carpooling though if you can. If you don’t want to drive, from Sunrise Diner it’s about a 12-15 minute walk. You do not need a parking pass on Rehoboth residential streets after 5pm and there is plenty of parking on our street. The Citizens to Preserve Dewey hosted a Winterfest Fundraiser in Washington DC on Friday, February 29.

It was a fabulous Leap Year event, people were able to catch up with thier neighbors and participate in our silent auction. The auction offered a variety of fabulous items including sports memorabilia, fishing trips, architectural services, vacation retreats, jewelry, original artwork and much more. All proceeds from the event will go toward supporting the continued operation of this all-volunteer citizens group.

The event began at 8:00 p.m. at 1600 20th St. NW, a grand historic mansion built in the late 1800’s located in the heart of Washington’s acclaimed Dupont Circle neighborhood. The Mansion’s event hall accommodates 300 guests and boasts period details such as 20-foot ceilings, three fireplaces, and a grand foyer with sweeping two-story open staircase. Your $75 ticket included unlimited beer and wine and heavy hors d’ oeuvres. It was a great night of music! Bids for the silent auction were taken throughout the evening and auction winners were announced that night. People enjoyed the music, friendship and wonderful food this night brought.

Another great event happened this past October…

You helped make our Oktoberfest Fundraiser such a success! We couldn’t do this campaign without you! For those who attended, we had a fun, spirited gathering at the Rehoboth Sailing Club, on the bay south of Dewey, with fiddlers and Bluegrass music and dancing, combined with good old fashioned Bratwurst and sauerkraut and baked beans. Everyone had a good time, but most importantly, we felt a sense of community spirit, united in keeping Dewey to our vision and that of the town planners. We want to extend a special thank you to Richie, Joan Claybrook, Ken and Susan Lodge and Lisa Blue for their generosity and to all of you for your continued support!“

Sincerely,
Marcia Schieck, Joan Claybrook, Rick Judge, Joy Howell, Allen and Linda Winton, Ann and Michael Duffin, Charlie and Lorrie Bauer and all of our CPD friends and family.
