Commissioner Thanks Supporters

dianehansonOne of the most rewarding aspects of my running for re-election is the number of wonderful people that I met while campaigning. Thank you to all those who welcomed me into their homes. I thank all the citizens of Dewey who supported and voted for me and a hearty thank you to the people who supported my campaign through volunteering for a variety of tasks, as well as through donations, testimonials, displaying yard signs, and basic moral support.

I would also like to thank the property owners of Dewey Beach and the steering committee members of Citizens to Preserve Dewey who have supported and endorsed me from the beginning in 2007.

The steering committee members have been constant supporters of our 35 foot height limit and getting it finalized in our town charter, donating immeasurable hours of work to the town for this cause. We are indebted to CPD for if it were not for their informing our citizens, we would most likely have a 68-foot hotel at Ruddertowne.

I am also grateful to the Cape Gazette for their endorsement. I know it was not an easy decision, but I am respectful of their courage in making that decision.

I support our new commissioners and mayor and from my meetings with them, they have expressed support for the 35 foot height limit and the charter change to add the height limit to our charter. I look forward to working with them to achieve this goal as well as many other goals including getting the Bayard Avenue flooding under control, fostering a tourist-friendly town, and maintaining a balanced budget.
