Several beaches in the First State get high grades. A report called “Testing The Waters” shows that three beaches in Delaware are in an above average category. Environment America’s Katie Kokkinos says, the National Resources Defense Council released the report Tuesday afternoon.” Bethany Beach, Dewey Beach and Rehobeth Beach, all of which earned four out of five stars from the report’s five star rating. This five star rating is based on indicators of beach water quality, as well as monitoring and health standards to protect beach goers.” The beaches fell short of getting a five star rating due to the fact that water monitoring is not conducted on a weekly basis. Environment America is asking Federal Lawmakers to support the Beach Protection Act, which would provide states with more funding to conduct weekly water testing.
