a letter from Gene SirLouis

Dear Planning and Zoning members:
Just say no to HHA! The town has been abundantly clear that the majority of residents and non-residents do not want a hotel, nor do they want anything over 35 feet in height. HHA said that if they weren't welcome, they would leave. Send them packing!
Don't be cowed by their threat to sue you. Anyone can sue anyone for anything. Winning a suit is another thing. I do not believe they have grounds for a suit. They seem to think that they get to decide how dense the area slated for increased density will be. They are wrong. That is your job, and you should make your determinations without outside pressure. Until you have finished your work, let developers apply under current rules. Once your work is done, they can apply under the new rules, and if they wish, they can file for variances using the procedure established in the rules.
Do not let HHA or anyone else write Dewey Beach zoning rules by proposing ordinances or by threatening lawsuits. It is your job to do this work, and I ask you to do it in a thoughtful manner, ignoring the threats of a greedy developer.
Thank you for your many hours of hard work.
