We Won in the Senate 20-1 Today !!!

Thanks to your support, HB 423 was voted out of the Delaware Senate today by a vote of 20-1. Commissioners Richard Hanewinckel, Diane Hanson and Dale Cooke and Mayor Dell Tush went to Dover and met with legislators to urge support for the bill. Mayor Tush also worked with other towns’ elected officials to enlist their support for our bill. The result is that the Senators voted resoundingly that if Dewey Beach voters want to change their town charter, they should be able to do just that. Sen. Colin Bonini was the only Senator to vote against the bill.

The bill goes to Gov. Minner’s desk now with strong support from both houses of the Legislature. We hope the Governor will be supportive of it as well.

Please send an email to all the Senators who voted for it and thank them. The citizens of Dewey Beach give a special thanks to Sen. Bunting for his outstanding leadership, and for working tirelessly to pass the bill, despite regular dialysis and preparations for an upcoming kidney transplant.

“Thank you, Senator Bunting. We love you!”
